600px\" data-no-auto-translation=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The port is right in front of you.<\/p>\n<p>The old town is also compact enough to wander around on foot.<\/p>\n<p>I enjoyed it very much.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Split is a great base for visiting Croatia's small islands.<\/p>\n<p>I had been trying to decide whether to relax in the city or go to one of the islands when I arrived in Split.<\/p>\n<p>Since the weather looked good, we decided to go on a day trip to \"Hvar Island\" the next day.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large
