FAQ

Tax-Free Shopping in Japan

The following non-residents are eligible to purchase items tax-free in Japan:
Short-term visitors: Foreign travelers staying in Japan for less than 6 months from the date of entry, including those with “Temporary Visitor,” “Diplomat,” or “Official” visa status.
U.S. military personnel: Members of the United States Forces Japan (SOFA status holders). A valid military ID card is required.
Japanese nationals living overseas: Japanese citizens who can provide official proof of living outside Japan continuously for more than 2 years, such as a Certificate of Overseas Residence or a copy of their Family Register Supplement (Koseki no Fuhyo).

Yes. Even if you hold Japanese nationality, you may qualify for tax-free shopping in Japan if you can provide official documentation proving that you have continuously resided outside Japan for more than two years.

Accepted documents include:
A Certificate of Overseas Residence (在留証明), or
A copy of your Family Register Supplement (戸籍の附票の写し)
Please note that these documents must have been issued within 6 months prior to your date of entry into Japan. We recommend preparing the necessary documents in advance before your visit.

For tax-free purchases in Japan, U.S. military personnel and SOFA status holders are required to present a valid U.S. military ID card.
In addition, a designated procedure is required in place of the standard passport verification process. Please be sure to bring both your military ID card and passport when visiting our store for tax-free shopping.

To qualify for Japan’s tax-free shopping program, Japanese law requires that the person who purchased and paid for the item must personally pick it up at the store and personally take it out of Japan.

Even if your friend visiting Japan is eligible for tax-free shopping as a temporary visitor, tax exemption cannot be applied if someone other than the purchaser receives the item.
If you would like to enjoy Japan’s tax-free service, please make sure that the person who made the payment visits our store in person and brings their passport at the time of pickup.

Tax-free products in Japan are sold under the condition that they will be taken out of Japan for personal use abroad. Because of this, transferring tax-free items to another person in Japan or consuming/using them within Japan is generally not permitted.
When departing Japan, customs officers may ask to inspect your tax-free purchases. Please keep consumable items unopened and take them out of the country with you.
(*For general goods such as jewelry and accessories, use within Japan may be allowed; however, the items must still be intended for export outside Japan.)

Orders shipped directly outside Japan are treated as “exports,” so Japanese consumption tax (10%) is exempted.
You will only be charged the product price excluding tax, plus international shipping fees.

Starting in November 2026, Japan’s tax-free shopping system will change to a refund-based system. Instead of receiving an immediate tax exemption at the store, travelers will first pay the full amount including Japan’s 10% consumption tax, then receive a refund when departing Japan.
Here is how the new process works:

At the store: Pay the full purchase amount including the 10% consumption tax.

At the store: Your tax-free purchase information will be registered and linked to your passport.

At the airport: Before departure, present the purchased items and receipts to customs for inspection.

Tax refund: After confirmation, the consumption tax amount will be refunded to your credit card, electronic payment service, or other designated payment method.

Delivery Time & Pickup During Your Stay in Japan

It depends on your order details.

1. Advance Custom Orders (Recommended)
For fully custom-made or semi-custom jewelry orders, our usual production time is approximately 2.5 to 3 months.
To ensure your ring is ready during your visit to Japan, we recommend finalizing the design in advance through email or online consultation several months before your trip. Once the design is confirmed, we can begin production ahead of your arrival.
Please contact us through our inquiry form to discuss your preferred schedule and design options.

2. Swift Tanzo Ring (Express Forged Ring Service)
With our Swift Tanzo Ring service, your ring can be completed in as little as one week.
Using traditional Japanese tanzo (forging) techniques, we create high-quality handcrafted rings within a short stay in Japan — perfect for travelers visiting Tokyo for a limited time.

3. Same-Day Purchase from In-Store Inventory
We also offer ready-made rings available for immediate purchase in-store.
You can try on and choose your favorite design in person, then take it home the same day.

Regarding Repair Services
For jewelry repairs brought into our store, we may be able to provide priority service with an additional Express Fee.
If your repair is urgent, please contact us in advance with details of the repair request so we can check our production schedule and availability.

The main differences are outlined below:

If you choose international shipping
This process is simpler and more convenient. Since the store keeps the export documentation, customers do not need to complete any special procedures at the airport.
However, please note that import duties, customs fees, or local taxes may be charged upon delivery in your country.

If you carry the item home yourself
You will need to complete the tax-free shopping procedure at the store, including presenting your passport. You must also personally go through customs procedures at the airport when leaving Japan.
※Please note: Starting in November 2026, Japan’s tax-free system for items carried abroad by travelers is scheduled to change to a refund-based system processed at the airport after purchase. However, direct international shipping from the store will still allow customers to purchase items tax-free at checkout.

Measuring size with string or paper may result in errors. Please have your size measured accurately at a nearby jewelry shop or similar establishment. Also, if you select a wider ring width (3.0mm or more), the feeling of tightness may change, so please consult with us.

For more information, please read our detailed sizing guide.

International Shipping & Customs Duties

Yes, we can arrange international shipping to your home country without requiring you to visit Japan. Japanese tax will be exempt for overseas orders; however, import duties, VAT, or local taxes may be charged upon delivery depending on your country’s regulations. Shipping fees will also apply separately.

International shipping fees vary depending on your country or region and the size of your package.
For an accurate shipping quote, please contact us with your delivery address, including your city and postal code.

Orders typically arrive within 3 days to 1 week after shipment. However, delivery times may vary depending on customs clearance procedures in the destination country.
Once your order has been shipped, we will provide you with a tracking number so you can check the delivery status in real time at any time.

Yes. Depending on your country or region, import duties, customs fees, or Value Added Tax (VAT) may be charged by your local customs authority when your order arrives.
These charges are the responsibility of the recipient/customer. Tax rates, customs regulations, and payment methods vary by country, so we recommend checking with your local customs office before placing an order.

Import taxes and customs duties vary depending on your country or region. In general, customs duties and value-added tax (VAT) or sales tax may be charged based on the total of the product price and shipping cost.
We recommend checking your local customs authority or official government customs website in advance for the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding import fees and tax regulations in your country.

Maintenance & Other Services

Yes. We also accept ring resizing and repair requests shipped from overseas, even years after your purchase. Please note that customers are responsible for the round-trip international shipping costs.

No, ring resizing and jewelry repair services are not eligible for Japan’s tax-free (duty-free) program.
Under Japan’s tax exemption rules, only the purchase of physical goods and products qualifies for tax-free shopping. Repair work, resizing, maintenance, and aftercare services are classified as “services,” which are not covered by the tax-free system under Japanese law.

Please note that even for customers living outside Japan, a 10% Japanese consumption tax will apply to all repair and maintenance fees.

Yes, absolutely. We accept jewelry remodeling and redesign orders by international shipping from anywhere in the world.
However, please carefully review the following important information regarding shipping and import procedures to Japan:

1. Customs Duties and Import Taxes
Any customs duties, import taxes, or related fees incurred when your package enters Japan are the responsibility of the customer.
When arranging shipment, please ensure that the sender (customer) is designated as the party responsible for all customs charges and fees.

2. Responsibility for Shipping Issues
Please note that we cannot be held responsible for any loss, damage, or other shipping-related issues that may occur while the package is being sent from the customer to our store.

Customs Duty Payment Settings:
When shipping your package, please make sure that any customs duties or import taxes are billed to the sender (customer), not the recipient (our store). For example, if using FedEx, please select a sender-paid option such as DDP (Delivered Duty Paid).

Package Description:
To avoid delays or confusion during customs clearance, please clearly label the contents as: “Jewelry for Remodeling”

※ If customs duties or import charges are billed to our store, the actual amount will be added to your production invoice. In addition, customers are responsible for all international return shipping and insurance fees incurred when returning the item from Japan.
